Monasteries used to have a supporting role in our society. They took care of education, medical care and shelter for those who were excluded from society. In those days the mentally or physically disabled were outcasts. Nowadays many monasteries have disappeared and health care took over the supporting role. And Beukenhof supports in organising holidays.
To increase the accessibility many of the entrances have been renovated and in the Southern part a complete new entrance tower has been made. The hallways and doorways are wide enough to enable passage and accommodation of wheelchairs and even hospital beds. The sanitary fittings have also been adjusted to make your stay in Biezenmortel as comfortable as possible.
